Rising damp, penetrating damp and condensation are the three most common types of damp found in residential properties. It's important to find out which is affecting your home so you can eradicate future problems and prevent serious consequences

Condensation
Condensation is apparent in all types of homes, particularly in rooms that naturally generate a lot of air moisture. Often we find that the removal of chimneys, alterations such as extensions or loft rooms and added energy-saving measures, such as double glazing or spray foam insulation can also increase condensation. The reduction of ventilation in homes which were originally designed to be naturally 'breathable' and allow damp air to evaporate out of the house is also a factor.

Rising Damp

Rising Damp is the term applied to the physical, slow upward movement of moisture from ground level (or below) through a wall. It is caused by capillary action (the same as when a piece of paper is soaks up water). Flaking render, brick decay, peeling paint, wallpaper and timber decay are amongst the most common symptoms of rising damp. Failure to treat rising damp can lead to difficulties selling your property.
Penetrative Damp
Penetrative damp is usually where rain water (often driven by wind) can enter the fabric of a property causing interior damp. This type of damp is very common in the UK where wet and windy weather conditions are common. Penetrative damp can usually be cured and prevented if the issue is identified and dealt with quickly. We have a complete range of professional solutions to deal with penetrative damp issues and all of our products and treatments come complete with a workmanship and manufacturers product guarantee.
Recognising damp problems is not always easy as it can occur in difficult to reach places. In order to find where damp is, it's important to inspect the property thoroughly. Our FREE survey will distinguish between damp issues and identify what can be done to remedy the situation.
